Well I’m not your typical yogi, nor am I a typical person either. I often read other people’s bio’s and think “wow they are amazing, their morals sound, and intentions true to the core” then I think of me and what I would write that would be inspirational. What can I say that would inspire a person to seek out yoga and the amazing benefits it would give to their lives? I’m blank. I never lived in a cave in the mountains, or an ashram, or had some kind of glamorous teacher training in a tropical country.  Nope, I’m basically everything that isn’t what a devoted yogi or yoga instructor looks like in mainstream media. My teachings reflect what is real. We are all different but at the same time all exactly the same. Finding truth in knowing that the only person in your life that passes the most judgment on you, is actually you!!! Our physical bodies carry our spirit and light in our physical world. Binding ourselves to the physical world only holds us back from finding our inner light, and detaching from the materialistic confines we are surrounded with. We can't change the world around us until we change the world within us. And we need to accept that we cannot change the world by ourselves. Honestly, that is why so many of us practice yoga, it gives us the time and space to discover our inner light. Yoga and its true teachings is so much more than just postures, and I strive as a teacher to share the other limbs that are so often forgotten in North American yoga. So here is one of my favorite all time quotes from a very old yoga textbook of mine, back when yoga was still the original raw teachings from one of the six schools of Indian philosophy. The Sun shines for all and excludes none from its light and life-giving energy. Referencing the Sun Salutations: “With hands in prayer I face the Sun, feeling love and joy in my heart. I reach out and let the Sun fill me with warmth. I bow before the Sun’s radiance and place my face to the ground in humble respect. I lift my face to the sun and then remember, to achieve such heights, I must be as the dust of the Earth. I stretch up towards its light trying to reach the greatest heights and again surrender. I stand tall as I remember the true Sun is within me”

With peace, love and light within me, I wish you peace, love, and light on your journey, whatever it may be. Be love!

Karen ;)
